Practice Pharmacist Team

Pharmacists Liam McGee and Laura Scott recently joined the practice team and are usually available Monday to Friday to help with medication queries.

They are ably  supported by Lyndsay Sockell, pharmacy technician.

Ellis Milligan, Assistant Practice Manager will retire in March 2020. Ellis is the longest serving member of the Fullarton Team. She started in Fullarton Street Surgery in 1971 as a receptionist.   She took a short break to have her children but has accrued 41 years service in the practice. In with the bricks! Ellis will be greatly missed by us all.

Repeat Prescription Phone line

On average our existing prescription “desk” receives 40 calls an hour over a 3 hour period. To increase access and to reduce call queuing we will be moving to an automated 24 hour telephone service from Monday 24 February.

You will be asked to leave your name, address and date of birth and details of the medications you need. Please do not ask for medication you do not require.

Your request will be received by the admin team in email format. Please allow 48 hours for us to process your request.

You can also order repeat prescriptions on-line from our practice website at or face to face at reception.

Wasted Appointments

123 patients failed to attend their appointments during December. If you are unable to attend an appointment please let us know as soon as possible.

Flu Vaccine

It is not too late to get your flu jab.

Antibiotic Resistance

Antibiotics are used to treat or prevent some types of bacterial infection. They work by killing bacteria or preventing them from spreading. But they do not work for everything.

Many mild bacterial infections get better on their own without using antibiotics.

Antibiotics do not work for viral infections such as colds and flu, and most coughs and sore throats.

Antibiotics are no longer routinely used to treat:

    • chest infections
  • ear infections in children
  • sore throats

When it comes to antibiotics, take your doctor’s advice on whether you need them or not. Antibiotic resistance is a big problem – taking antibiotics when you do not need them can mean they will not work for you in the future.

When antibiotics are needed

Antibiotics may be used to treat bacterial infections that:

  • are unlikely to clear up without antibiotics
  • could infect others
  • could take too long to clear without treatment
  • carry a risk of more serious complications

People at a high risk of infection may also be given antibiotics as a precaution, known as antibiotic prophylaxis.
